如果没有调速要求，速度需要恒定或功率因数需要提高，应采用同步电机，适用于中、大容量水泵、空气压缩机、提升机、磨粉机等。对于调速范围在1: 3以上且调速连续、稳定、平稳的生产机械，应采用单独励磁的直流电机或鼠笼异步电机或变频调速同步电机，适用于大型精密机床、双刨床、轧机、提升机等。
